In  a few days many of us will be celebrating Father’s Day. In All Saints Catholic Church, where we are members,  we have an opportunity every year to request prayers for father’s who we want to have remembered in the masses all through the month of June.

I have several fathers I choose to have remembered. First and foremost, there is my husband, Charlie,  a wonderful provider and loving father and grandfather for our family.  And then I always remember my father. I was the third child in a family of four  (3 girls and lastly a boy) but I was my father’s favorite.

I say that without reservation. I adored him and we had many special days together.  I will write more about my father at another time. I also remember my father-in-law.  He was a hardworking man. A laborer who in his own special way took care of his family as well as the families of his siblings.  But it is my grandfathers that I remember most when I make my Mass request.  Were it not for these brave men with a vision and a determination for a better life I would not have the privilege of being born here in America.  They came with very little money, only the clothes on their back and a dream.  For them I will always be thankful and grateful.

God bless them and god bless loving fathers everywhere!
